Taste Enhancers  

Taste enhancers are an efficient way to get the most out of your consumer products.  Taste enhancers enable formulators to find substitutes for salts while contributing long-lasting aromas during consumption.  Canning, freezing, and heating can eliminate flavors by the time foods make it to customers.  By including flavor enhancers—sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and savory—tastes remain throughout the production process. Using correct flavor enhancers for your product allows it to remain fresh in taste for extended periods of time.  This helps reduce waste and cuts costs for foods requiring canning, packaging, freezing, and heating.

 

Concept Demos 

We are the exclusive distributor for Borregaard, producer of wood vanillin since 1962 and the supplier with the most diverse and complete range of vanillin products, including vanillin from wood, vanillin and ethyl vanillin, and vanillin products designed for specific industries and performance.  Vanillin is the world’s most popular flavor for use in food and fragrances.  Wood vanillin occurs naturally within certain trees, and is embedded within the tree’s cell structure.  Vanillin is present widely in plants and is one of nature’s protection systems—plants create a compound that can fend off would-be grazers.  Today, Borregaard is the world’s most advanced biorefinery, making several hundred commercial bio-based products from trees.  During the biorefinery process, the vanillin within the tree is separated, collected, purified to more than 99.9%, crystalized, and packed in cartons.  Using plant-based, natural, and sustainable raw material, Borregaard produces advanced and environmentally friendly products that replace oil-based alternatives.   

Brenntag's Application & Development Center has created several demo concepts utilizing Borregaard's vanillin products.

 

Brown Sugar Butter Sauce 

Our food scientist has created three versions of a recognizable, caramel-style, brown sugar butter sauce showcasing a few of Borregaard's vanillins. 


    EuroVanillin GRAN 4 – ideal for customers who desire a natural flavor label

    EuroVanillin PLUS SB18 – suitable for all food applications; this wood-based vanillin product was developed as a low-cost alternative to traditional synthetic vanillin

    EuroVanillin PLUS SB18 – used as a flavor booster and for masking off-notes at lower dosages

    EuroVanillin BORREBON – a wood-based cost-effective product, thermostable at high temperatures with a five-year shelf life and an intensity of 1:1 compared to oil-based vanillin

  • Use EuroVanillin BORREBON to impart an old-fashioned vanilla flavor to your products, reminiscent of bourbon vanilla extract.


These are model recipes, and can easily be alternated depending on preference. 


The Vegan Pancake 

Our Application & Development Center has developed a fluffy and sweet vegan pancake.  Featured in a comparison demo, the pancake showcases two of Borregaard's EuroVanillin options—EuroVanillin PLUS SB18 as a low-cost alternative to artificial vanillin flavors, and EuroVanillin GRAN 4 as a replacement for vanilla extract.  Regardless of your personal favorite, Brenntag's vegan pancakes demonstrate Borregaard's EuroVanillin flavors, providing a pure, smooth, and creamy vanilla taste profile.
